The Helvellyn Hut

Not Any Old Hut

Inspired by the 1920s huts that once dotted the fields our modern take is a bit more luxurious than days of old. While it is a rustic wooden hut, it’s not just any hut. Constructed by experienced craftsmen from locally sourced Larch and Douglas Fir, the Helvellyn Hut offers the life of luxury, while surrounded by nature.

All the Creature Comforts

While small, the Helvellyn hut packs everything, and more, that you need for a comfortable escape to the Lakes. Starting your morning in the large double bed then get ready for the day by sliding the reclaimed door to reveal the fully functioning ensuite.

If you’re a morning coffee person then put in a coffee pod, but if you’re more of a tea person; fear not, we’ve still got a stove top kettle. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for a break in the lakes.

However it’s the view that sets this hut apart. You can enjoy it from the bed, the breakfast bar or on the comfortable L shaped sofa. To really connect with the environment then simply slide the bifold doors open and embrace the stunning scenery. Then at night, close the door, shut the curtains and curl up with a good book or board game in front of a roaring log fire.

Japanese Soaking Tub

But it’s outside that the hut excels. Opening the bifold windows and stepping out onto the decking reveals the most incredible view of the entire Helvellyn mountain range. While standing on the decking is one way to take the view in the best way has to be from the sunken Japanese soaking tub. Relax with a glass of wine or a cup of tea, embrace the air and take in the stunning scenery.

Relax Outside, Rain or Shine

Curving round the hut the decking elegantly embeds itself round an old oak tree before being covered under. This bamboo covered area allows you to sit out and enjoy a morning or evening, even if it’s a bit wet (and if we’re honest; there wouldn’t be lakes without rain). Sat on our reclaimed bistro set or relaxing on the swinging chair under the solar lights is probably one of the most relaxing places you could be in.

Fire up the Barbie

Nothing beats cooking over an open fire. On a nice evening head out to the wildflower meadow, throw down a couple of logs and watch the fells bath in the last of the setting suns rays.

Get Active & Explore the Area

The Lakes is teeming with activities. From gentile tea shops to addrenaline enducing via ferretra climbing.

Our incredible location offers a lovely range of gentile walking options, right from the hut. But for those with map reading skills and walking experience then the fells are your playground!

But if you’re looking to take it easy on your holiday then why not walk through ancient woodlands down to Keswick and explore the quaint market on a Thursday and Saturday.

failing all that, go an walk with an Alpaca.
